•         Qualifications

 

I have over twenty years of experience in public speaking and public relations from the law enforcement profession.  I have been involved in every aspect of tournament bass fishing for the past eighteen years from competing in tournaments, promoting my sponsors, and assisting in the organization of tournaments and boat shows.  I have a unique insight of the business aspects of bass fishing from the standpoint of a competitor and as a former boat dealer.  I and the founder and former owner of The Boat Shop, Inc. a full line boat dealership featuring Ranger Boats.  During the time I owned the dealership I achieved the following awards from Ranger:  Top 100 Ranger Dealer Award winner 5 years, Ranger Five Star Dealer award winner 2004 and 2006.

Three Rivers Community College 1984-1986 Associate in Law Enforcement

Southeast Missouri State University 1986-1988, Bachelor in Criminal Justice

Over two-thousand-five hundred hours of P.O.S.T. certified police officer training.  I am a graduate of the Missouri State Highway Patrol First Line Supervision and Management Development Training Classes. 

P.O.S.T. certified police instructor.

 

•         Experience

 

Over 20 years experience as a semi-professional tournament angler.  The past 9 years of tournament angling appearances have been mainly for promotional purposes to advertise for my former boat dealership.  Numerous public appearances to promote my sponsors. 

 

I also have 20 years experience in law enforcement, 15 years with the Missouri State Highway Patrol ( 10 years as a corporal) , 5 years with the Cape Girardeau Police Department.  For the past 10 years I have been a guest instructor as the Missouri State Highway Patrol Academy in Jefferson City for 1-2 weeks per year.  I am also an instructor for Hannibal-LaGrange College teaching Administration of Justice classed periodically throughout the year.  I am also a P.O.S.T. certified police instructor and am on staff at the Missouri Sheriff’s Association as an instructor.

 

•         Personal

 

I am 42 years old, born July 27, 1966.  Married to Pamela E. Haggett, I have two daughters, Jessica, and Lauren, both of which are home-schooled using the Abeka program developed by Pensacola Christian College.  My wife and daughters share my love of fishing and the outdoors.  We have resided in Southeast Missouri and Lake of the Ozarks.

I am currently employed as a Sergeant in the Missouri State Highway Patrol.  I also am the founder and former owner of The Boat Shop, Inc, a full service Ranger boat dealership. 

I am a born again Christian and an active member of Westwood Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff, Mo., and serve as a Deacon and on the Finance Committee.  My wife and I also are members of an outreach ministry team, and we both have served as leaders in the Awana Ministry.
